Overview

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of infants and young children from birth to seven years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0–5 years.

Upon successful completion of this qualification, learners can enter the workforce as a qualifiedLevel 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early YearsEducator status.

The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is made up of 37 credits. The overall learning outcomes are:
? Understand the role of the Early Years Practitioner
? Understand factors impacting on communication in the workplace
? Understand working relationships within Early Years Settings
? Understand why Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is integral to the role of the Early Years Practitioner
The qualification comprises 14 units with a combined total of 37 credits.

Equivalences

This qualification at Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE AS/A Levels.

Qualification structure

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training of 6 units for a combined total of 12 credits.

● There are no formal requirements for specific prior qualifications or levels of attainment.

The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner consists of 14 units with a combined total of 37 credits

Mandatory unit
● Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training (3 credits)

Optional unit - Group A (Choose minimum 6 credits)
● Roles and responsibilities of the Early Years practitioner (3 credits)
● Health and safety of Infants and young children in Early Years Settings (3 credits)
● Equality, diversity and Inclusive practice in Early Years Settings (3 credits)

● Safeguarding, protection and welfare of Infants and young children in Early Years Settings (3 credits)
● Understand How to support childrens development (3 credits)
● Support care routines for infants and young children (4 credits)
● Support the planning and delivery of activities, purposeful play opportunities and educational programmes (4 credits)
● Promote play in an Early Years Setting (2 credits)
● Support well-being of infants and young children for healthy Llfestyles (3 credits)
● Support infants and young children to be physically active (4 credits)
● Support the needs of infants and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability (4 credits)
● Promote positive behaviour in Early Years Settings (4 credits)
● Partnership working in the Early Years Settings (4 credits)
● Support the needs of the child in preparing for school (4 credits)

Assessment

The evaluation process is conducted through the submission of assignments, and there are no written examinations involved.
